Your Rights as a TTOC

All members of the SCTA, whether they are a Teacher Teaching on Call or engaged in a Temporary or Continuing Contract, are protected by the Collective Agreement and are entitled equally to representation and assistance by the SCTA and the BCTF.

If you have any questions or concerns, you are encouraged to contact the SCTA through the SCTA Office (604-885 -7944)
or through an SCTA Staff Rep at you school.

Please contact the SCTA if you have questions or concerns about:

  • your rights or responsibilities as a School District employee or a member of the Union,

  • the hiring (post-and-fill) process in the School District,

  • payment of salary and benefits,

  • what a School District official, administrator, or teacher is expecting you to do in the performance of your duties,

  • the School District is not following the provisions of the Collective Agreement,

  • accessing SCTA Professional Development funds

  • becoming active in the SCTA.

TTOC Call Outs
Our Collective Agreement currently allows a teacher or principal to request a particular TTOC to be dispatched to fill an absence. However, all members should be aware that it is the policy of the BCTF that teachers express a preference for a particular TOC when making a request only for clear educational reasons.

TTOC Local Specialist Association
There is a Teachers Teaching on Call Local Specialists Association (LSA) in our school district. The chair of this group sits as a member of the SCTA executive. The group may meet to:

  • advocate for the interests of TTOCs and New Teachers,

  • advise the SCTA on issues that concern TTOCs and New Teachers,

  • provides education for TTOCs and New Teachers about issues relating to their employment, the SCTA and the Collective Agreement.

Contact SCTA President: Jacquie Shelemey  for more information.
